Document Solutions (3rd Quater Fiscal 2007 Earnings)

Consolidated revenue of the Document Solutions segment during the quarter were ¥280.5billion, up 5.8% from the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. Driving this growth were exports of digital color multifunction devices to North America and Europe and strong sales in China and other countries in Asia.

Similar to the substantial rise seen in Information Solutions segment operating income, Document Solutions segment operating income surged to ¥21.2billion, up ¥9.6billion, or 82.4%, from the same period of the previous fiscal year. Although SG&A expenses were increased due to measures aimed at expanding business in such growth markets as those of China and other Asian countries, a rise in Office Product business sales volume and other factors contributed to increase in the gross profit, and a decrease in R&D expense also contributed to the rise in operating income.
