The Company recorded robust sales in all business fields of Information Solutions centered on medical systems, graphic arts and FPD materials. Moreover, the sales of newly consolidated subsidiaries engaged in the inkjet material business and radiopharmaceuticals business have been accounted the revenue in this segment. Consequently, consolidated revenue amounted up 17.0%, to ¥1,026.1 billion compared with the previous fiscal year.

Despite the impact of the recording of ¥17.3 billion in structural reform charges, the operating income in this segment increased 20.4%, to ¥95.2 billion.

Excluding this impact, pro-forma operating income grew considerably, to ¥112.5 billion, up 28.2%, largely because the Company was able to offset the cost-boosting impact of the surge in the prices of such raw materials as silver and aluminum by increasing the mainstay products' sales volume and decreasing fixed costs thanks to the streamlining of production facilities shared with Imaging Solutions. The progressive depreciation of the yen against the dollar and the euro also contributed.

Consolidated financial statements are prepared in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America.
