Document Solutions (1st Quarter Fiscal 2008 Earnings)

Strong sales of color digital multifunction devices and on-demand-publishing systems were recorded in the Asia-Pacific region, including China, and the rise in overseas multifunction device export shipments has been accompanied by an increase in consumables sales. These were primary factors contributing to a 3.1% increase in consolidated revenue in this segment compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year, to ¥281.9 billion.

The Document Solutions segment's operating income grew 3.9%, to ¥16.5 billion, reflecting profit growth resulting from the rise in office product sales volume, which offset a rise in SG&A expenses associated with sales growth in Asia-Pacific region, including China.
