The consolidated revenue grew to ¥817.0 billion, up 8.9% from the same period of the previous year. This growth reflected higher sales of FCR, dry films, and medical network systems and services in medical systems operations as well as higher sales achieved in graphic arts business through measures to augment manufacturing capacity in response to the increasing use of CTP products. The growth also reflected such factors as higher sales of FPD materials, which are in great demand, as well as growth in sales of camera phone lens units.

A considerable increase was realized in operating income in the Information Solutions segment, which amounted to ¥104.5 billion, up 41.1% from the level in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Although the continued high prices of silver had an impact on profitability, the large rise in operating income reflected the profit increase stemming from higher sales volume for principal products as well as cost reductions due to the coordinated reorganization of Imaging Solutions and Information Solutions manufacturing operations and benefits from yen depreciation.

Consolidated financial statements are prepared in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America.
