Open Innovation Hub

The Open Innovation Hub is a facility that allows business partners to have first-hand experience of fundamental and core technologies that underlie excellent materials and products developed by the Fujifilm Group, as well as fresh technologies, materials and products currently under development, so as to offer new business solutions.

Fujifilm Stage Gate Process (FSG)

Fujifilm Stage Gate Process is a method for pursuing development by dividing the process of creating new businesses and products into six standard stages. At each stage, hypotheses about uncertainties are verified to reduce the impact of such factors. During gateway meetings at the end of each stage, the level of achievement toward set targets is assessed, critical challenges for the next stage are identified, and action plans are developed. The decision to proceed to the next stage depends on the results of these activities.
This process of reviewing strategies based on challenges that emerge at each stage enables us to develop competitive new businesses and products that meet user needs.

Blue Sky Research Program

Research based on creative thinking and the passion of each researcher is the wellspring for the continuous creation of new businesses. Blue Sky Research (BSR) has been introduced as a system for cultivating boundless imagination and researcher aspirations into concrete research topics. The goal is to prevent ideas from lying idle by nurturing them into R&D themes through open discussion across the company.
This system allows potential focus areas to be presented at any point, from basic research to new product suggestions, even if the ideas presented are not directly related to the current job or responsibility of the person putting it forth.
