Drug Development Technology
Drug development technology is a new fundamental technology which supports Fujifilm's growth. We continue to create and cultivate this technology by integrating proprietary advanced technologies, which takes advantage of our participation in other fields, with pharmacological evaluation, drug synthesis and drug analysis technologies necessary for drug development.
In not only the infectious disease and radiopharmaceuticals areas where Toyama Chemical Co., Ltd. and FUJIFILM RI Pharma Co., Ltd exhibit their strength but also the oncology area where FUJIFILM Drug Discovery Research Laboratories mainly explores new drugs, our group synergy has been strengthened.
Core technologies derived from these fundamental technologies
FTD technology

Fujifilm's proprietary technology nurtured in the development of photographic film and other products. It involves formulating desired chemicals and delivering them to targeted sites in appropriate quantity and at appropriate times by means of emulsification, dispersion, nanoparticles, nanocapsule formation and porous & multilayer thin films, etc. By utilizing this FTD technology in drug research and development, we strive to create innovative pharmaceutical products.
Analysis technologies for drug development

We introduce the function analysis and simulation technologies established through creation of various functional materials as well as analysis, evaluation and simulation technologies(*1) at nano, molecular and atomic scale to the drug development field. In doing so, our R&D is supported by the analysis of the drug structure, body distribution and protein-drug interaction.

By using the design and synthesis technology(*2), cultivated in creation of various functional materials such as photographic and liquid-crystal materials, we promote R&D in the drug development field. Also, we further utilize and expand our unique library of 200,000 compounds, accumulated through development of various products including photographic films, in the creation of pharmaceutical products.
